Why there is a MILITARY Show off to celebrate the spirit of Republic Day ?

0

Republic is derived from “res” meaning ‘things’ and “publicus” meaning ‘public goods, things, affairs etc’. This means republic is one where there is a direction of thought towards building more and more public assets or public utilities. A republic has a yearning for retaining and strengthening its public outlook and also lessen tendencies to privatise. Military is the single biggest public sector that has not yet been thought by most countries to be privatised. Military, thus becomes a show-piece for republics, to display their biggest public sector. However, in India, this is more like a paradox, where you have a government, which even after ruled by parties after parties, do not even get ashamed to privatise all its public assets built up thus far, but also promote aggresively the thoughts of strengthening the private enterprise. Its a shame to carry on with the term anymore and if the government is serious, it should discard Republic from the Preamble of its Constitution.
