Why there are so many Germanic people with “neurological problems”?
Celiac disease is a very common cause of neurological disorders and mental disorders. It’s an autoimmune disease caused by gluten intolerance, so the cure is a gluten free diet. The prevalence is about 1 in 100, making it extremely common. Although there is a lot of misinformation about it (like that it’s just a digestive disorder. It’s not.) and it’s widely undiagnosed and untreated. It’s traditionally thought of as being much more prevalent in caucasians so it would make sense that those populations have much more neurological and mental disorders than other populations. Even if it’s not based on a genetic predisposition to it, those cultures eat much more gluten than African, middle Eastern, or Asian countries so you would see it much more there. There are many diseases that scientists are finding to be related to gluten intolerance: seizures, lupus, MS, schizophrenia, autism, diabetes. It is suggested that anyone with unexplained neurological problems get tested for celiac disease.
