Why the topical nature in classes before launching into the study of particular Bible books?

The first six weeks in the GBI curriculum are designed to introduce the students to essential realities & themes that will serve as an umbrella for the remainder of the school year. We will then launch into the study of specific books of the authoritative Word of God to determine if, indeed, those realities & themes are oozing out from the actual words of Scripture. If not, the student should disregard all or some of that vision of God and the Christian life. If it indeed oozes from Scripture, then the student will have confidence that such topics like Christian Hedonism and The Absolute Sovereignty of God are rooted deeply in Scripture.
