Why the switch from drawing to painting?
It was time. The word “drawing,” to me, invokes thoughts of childhood and kids with crayons. Painting is a more mature, professional art form. Plus, I felt I’d reached a plateau with my drawings, and I wanted to make my portraits much bigger and more detailed. So, it was a natural progression, really.
