Why the pasta vernacular?
In 1966, Sergio Leone revolutionized the way Hollywood portrayed Westerns with his film: “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.” With a shoe string budget, and unknown actors, he created motion picture masterpieces, which in turn demythologized the west. The term Spaghetti Western was coined to describe the legendary director’s style. Usually categorized as Italian made with Spanish influences acted by unknown actors, most films of this sub-genre are seen as highly revered treasures. All of the product names, as well as the studio’s title are a play off the Spaghetti Western term. Pasta Studio, directed by Jesse Spinella is a half Italian, half Mexican American with an affinity towards Westerns and Science Fiction. The combination of the two, known as Space Operas, have influenced his own writing style and favorite book/movie preferences.
