D S. says: My husband and I are recent transplants from the East Coast. We’ll have lived in the area two years this July. We’ve noticed that Fresnans will flock to chains like PF Chang’s and Chevy’s while smaller, locally-owned Asian and Mexican restaurants don’t draw nearly as many diners. We’re amazed as we drive by RiverPark on a Saturday night, after having had dinner at a fantastic mom-n-pop Lao or Oaxacan restaurant, and see crowds milling around Mexican and Asian big chain restaurants. It always makes us laugh. Are folks in Fresno afraid of authentic cuisine or what?
