Why the need for a digital tachograph?
The main reason for the introduction of the digital tachograph is to take advantage of a more secure way of recording the driver’s duty periods, drivers data is not recorded onto a smart card. The new system is far less open to abuse by unscrupulous drivers, the operator also gains with the new system as it allows him easier and better control of his drivers hours.
