Why the focus on outpatient services at Butler Hospital?
The goal is to make services convenient and easily accessible to people where they work and live. We have 20 outpatient sites now, and we’re expanding services at some of those. We’re trying to stay ahead of the game. You have to compete with the retail world these days. How has Butler succeeded in negotiating with its physicians, a sometimes tricky area for hospital administrators? That has been incredibly successful for us, working with our physicians. It has to be a win-win for both — that’s first and foremost. And we look for those win-win solutions. We’re fortunate because we have some great and loyal physicians, and they realize that the hospital must be successful. What opportunities do you see in providing cardiac care? We bought the Morgan Building, and we’re just finishing some major renovations. The building will allow diagnostic care and surgical consults in one location.
