Why the drinking age should not be lowered?
People will argue that the drinking age should be lower because it is in other countries– But it’s lower in other countries because the children there are RAISED to know how to drink responsibly, so when they come of age they can be trusted not to make total fools of themselves. Here, the idea is “Turn 21, get a keg, and then fall drunk off a balcony”. In the United States, kids drink to get drunk and do stupid things. By having the drinking age so high, it’s hoped that by the time they turn 21 they’ll be mature enough to at least be more responsible about their drinking.
