Why the dogs sometimes eat grass?
There is some useful substance in the grass that the dog needs for better digestion. It can also be the treatment of intestinal worms and the need of the dog’s body for fiber, which is contained in the grass. My dog also sometimes ate grass, I noticed that most often it happened in the spring. And I can say that I had a feeling that the grass was helping her deal with some problem. Many dog owners worry about their pets and forbid them to eat grass, but I’m not one of them. There is one thing, the grass must be real .. because the artificial turf will not bring benefit to the dog’s stomach. By the way, when I was researching the reasons for my dog’s behavior, I found an interesting blog where you can find a lot of information about our pets. It was there that I found out can the dog eat grass.
Most dogs eat grass whether their stomachs are upset or not. The myth that dogs eat grass to settle their stomachs probably came about because they so often vomit afterward (which can be caused by either the grass triggering the gag response in the throat, or by large boluses of grass in the stomach, depending on the specific incident). Scientific research has been unable to determine why dogs eat grass, but it does not indicate an upset stomach or illness. As long as the grass doesn’t have insecticide, herbacide or any other toxin on it, it’s not generally harmful to eat grass.
A dog doesn’t eat grass just because of an upset stomach. That is a common myth among dogs. They eat grass because certain kinds taste good. They eat grass because they need the extra fiber because their diet is lacking in proper nutrients. Some dogs eat grass because it’s wet and provides water. Others may eat grass because they are bored. Some do actually eat grass because their stomach is upset, but rarely. If the grass doesn’t pass through and come out in poo it will come out in a foamy heave on your floor. If you think they have an upset stomach, give a little pepto (infant or childs portion), this often works. Do NOT let your dog eat grass where other dogs have pooped or where there may be pesticides present. You WILL have a problem then!
