Why the dire forecasts for America in the timeline?

Lately I’ve seen online forum comments that some folks got very depressed reading about the future I expect for America. I don’t blame them. It depresses me too. But the timeline isn’t meant to evangelize the US and its policies: it’s meant to offer a glimpse at what (in my opinion) may be highly likely events of future history, based on everything I know at the time of writing. I try to provide plenty of credible third party references for those opinions (from a variety of sources) on the same pages (which may be one reason the results look so depressing– because they appear so plausible). Could I be wrong about America’s future? Of course! Indeed, I hope I am, in many respects– especially the nearer term ones.
