Why the “100x” in the subject line?
I get about 20-30 e-mails a day, even without this class, from the people I know and work with and the listserves I subscribe to. Then add this and other classes sending me e-mails. On days assignments are due it is possible that I can receive upwards to 150 e-mails. Putting the 100x at the beginning of the subject line (the 100 without the x for the day class) helps me categorize messages before I open them. Later, it helps me record scores properly. If you leave the 100x off, I might get the assignment graded and scored properly, but I could easily lose the assignment, too. Among the e-mails I get are porno offers –come on, you get them, too– and I often delete those without opening them. Without the 100x key, I might accidentally categorize your message with them. Likewise, it is important that you include your name in the subject line. While I try to pay attention to e-mail addresses, I sometimes don’t recognize the address.
