This GCSE course will allow students to learn about and apply a range of manufacturing processes, techniques and technologies appropriate to the design and make process. What will I do? Designing and making activities will be delivered through a fashion and accessories route. The following is an example of the areas which will be studied: ¨ Designing and making skills e.g. fashion: items such as bags, trousers and tops ¨ Materials and Components e.g. SMART materials ¨ Design and make influences, looking at current fashion trends ¨ Processes and Manufacture The above areas of study will provide opportunity to cover Key Skills, ICT and spiritual, moral, ethical, social, cultural, environmental, health and safety and European Issues. How will I be assessed? Assessment is by: Individual project (60%) – under controlled assessment conditions. Examination (40%) – Untiered – 2 hours.
