Access to higher education and earning a college degree has enormous positive implications for individuals as well as society as a whole. It is in all of our best interests to actively promote college attendance. • According to the U.S. Census Bureau, individuals who receive a bachelor’s degree can, on average, expect to earn over $1 million more in their lifetime compared to individuals who are high school graduates. • Other advantages include increased options in life and a greater opportunity to fulfill one’s potential. • A just released Brookings Institute Study confirms that obtaining a college education is key to an individuals economic mobility. But Here Is the Challenge: Low-income students face major obstacles in their pursuit of higher education. As a result, fewer attend college…and even fewer graduate from college.
