Why Study English Teaching at Lipscomb?
The English Teaching degree is co-sponsored by the Department of English and the Department of Education. The English program focuses on teaching students to understand literature, interpret written texts and hone their own writing skills. The Education program strives to inspire and train students, so they can master the knowledge and skills needed to become caring and competent teachers. Through the English Department, you can experience a variety of fun and enriching activities outside the classroom. One unique opportunity is the nine-week Lipscomb in London study-abroad program. This program offers students the opportunity to earn six hours of upper division credit toward their major, while enjoying a summer in London! Interdisciplinary humanities courses are taught in London by professors from art, history and English. Other semester-long study-abroad programs are held all over the world, including the LA Film Studies Center and the Scholar’s Semester at Oxford. In their Education
