Why study Electronic or Mechanical Engineering?
Electronic and mechanical engineers have a huge impact on society. If you look around the world, almost everything you see has been designed and built by engineers: cars, buildings, aeroplanes, mobile phones, iPods, bicycles, theatre, cinema, TV, radio, trains, buses, electricity, roads, the sewage system, the drinking water system, all hospital equipment, all computers, the internet, all agriculture machinery, even the clothes people wear. The list is not endless, but it comprises of just about everything man-made on the Earth and in Space. Thus the role of an engineer is as the main innovator and agent of change in society. The fact is, that society looks to engineers to a help it achieve its hopes and desires; like flying, drinking clean water, or communicating instantly across vast oceans; and also to tackle its problems, such as Global Warming.
