Why study Computer Information Systems?
Computer Information Systems will be a key component in many of the careers in tomorrow’s workplace, and it is already a driving force in today’s offices and farms as more and more computers are utilized to accomplish tasks more efficiently and accurately. Doctors using tablet PCs or terminals to enter patient data, nurses using computers to monitor patients, farmers controlling pivots and irrigation remotely with computer sensors and wireless antennae, wireless technology bringing hotspots to farms and buildings…its happening now, and it is only going to grow in tomorrow’s workplace. But do and will computers really make our life easier? That will depend on whether the United States can provide a workforce of qualified technicians that can help us use computers effectively in the office and on the farm. A surprising prediction: The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 48 percent increase in jobs for computer software engineers and a 55 percent growth in jobs for network system
