Why Study Bible Prophecy?
Since the Bible is the inspired Word of God, everything in the Bible is profitable to study (2 Timothy 3:16). Most people, however, like to concentrate on the stories and doctrines that are most meaningful to them. Prophecy is often not very interesting because it appears to deal with the distant past or the indecipherable future. Either way, it doesn’t seem to affect us today. To understand the importance and relevance of Bible prophecy, we first need to see its importance in the Bible itself. At least 25% of the Bible is explicitly classified as prophetic. God’s prophets were dear to him. He often judges people on how they treated the prophets. He also is quite fond of saying that certain events must take place in order to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet.
