Why student housing at Purdue Calumet?
There are several reasons. Student housing will define Purdue Calumet as a comprehensive regional university and distinguish us from institutions comprising the recently established Community College of Indiana system. For that reason, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education recently granted Purdue Calumet and other regional universities permission to develop student housing for up to 10 percent of their enrollment. Student housing also will help strengthen our campus environment and enhance campus life. Student housing means more to do on campus for our studentsresidents and commuters alike. However, most importantly, student housing, we believe, will help us attract, retain and graduate more studentsthe essence of student success as we define it. We fully expectand our research indicates as muchthat housing at Purdue Calumet will attract a significant number of local students who desire an on-campus residential experience close to home.
