Why stevia is only growing now?
For decades, stevia has already been readily available in most health food stores as a dietary supplement in countries like the U.S., and as an ingredient in food products in Japan and Korea. And, in December 2008, the US Food and Drug Administration gave a “no objection for approval for the GRAS status” of Rebaudioside-A, the extract from stevia plant. To date, the use for stevia for worldwide consumption is currently under examination for standardization of quality and safety assessment. Stevia is currently being introduced to product lineups of major multinational companies and it will soon arrive in supermarket shelves around the world.
