WHY SOS choose SEAHORSES as a flagship species ?
• Seahorses are extremely unusual. They are fishes but have horse-like head, a prehensile tail and pregnancy occurs in males. • They live around seagrass and mangrove areas. • They are endangered as declared by the World Union of Conservaiton Nation. • They are probably the fastest-dwindling species affected by development around the Pulai River Estuary. Research estimated that there are less than 400 seahorses in the estuary.
