I think you’re right, and although I’m agnostic, I think there are many great moral values that all 3 of these religions share — for example, compassion, and the notion that God demands justice — that should make them compatible. However, a good argument can be made that one thing that all 3 Abrahamic religions share is an extreme intolerance for other faiths. As historian Edward Gibbon saw it, in his famous history of Rome, it’s arguable that in the ancient pagan world, the common people saw all religions as equally true; the philosophers saw all religions as equally false, and the legal magistrates saw all religions as equally useful — i.e. equally useful in controlling the common people. But Judaism, as Gibbon saw it, then invented the idea of a “jealous” God, a God who could tolerate no rivals, and soon enough Jews were claiming that their God was the only real one.
