Why so many Police cars dashing about sirens at full blast 24 hours a day?
By the sound of things you seem to know a lot about the activities of the Police. With this in mind maybe you’d be able to know exactly which emergency jobs they are going to when you see them ‘tearing past’. A few points to mention. The sirens don’t have a volume control, they are either on or off. They are a means to alert people to your presence. It is possible to drive to an emergency without them but most people don’t look far enough past their nose to see you so they are usually necessary when going to an emergency. They are to be used when necessary and not to get to and from the takeaway quicker. This is improper use of Police equipment and an issue that should be addressed if indeed it does go on. Try complaining to your local station rather than to an internet forum. When a Police car suddenly turns off its sirens, it doesn’t mean it has got through the obstacle it couldn’t be bothered to wait for, it usually means its either no longer necessary to use the sirens, is wanting
