Why single out smokers and managers?
The reason why smokers require to ensure that they are not found smoking in no smoking premises is that the law introduces the new criminal offence of smoking in these public places. You are liable to be prosecuted or issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) of £50. If you are a manager or the person in control of a no smoking premises there are two new criminal offences, which you could commit. Firstly if you allow someone to smoke in your premises and secondly if you do not display the required no-smoking signage. For either offence you could be subject to prosecution or be issued with a FPN of £200.
