Why Singapore has the same system like in Communism countries ?
I lived there a few years ago. There are other parties like the Singapore Democratic Party, but the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) had an underhanded habit of suing opposition politicians for slander, and once they’d sued them into bankruptcy the politician could no longer stand for parliament. I met the leader of the Singapore Democratic Party when I was there: Dr. Chee Soon Juan. The problem was, from what I could see, was that at the time most Singaporeans didn’t care about the lack of a level playing field in politics because the ruling PAP had generally done such a good job of running Singapore that most people wanted them to stay in power anyway. It’s not communism, it’s more like cronyism, similar to how George Bush Senior and George W Bush Junior both ended up being President of the USA.
