Why should WFSM and WSMA provide awards and recognition? Shouldn the member school provide these items for their students?

Schools pay membership dues as well as entry fees in order for students to participate in WSMA activities. As costs have increased and school budgets have been restricted by state and local controls, reduced funds for awards is one of the results. While it is possible for some schools to provide the awards, receiving the award through the state association and a generous donor tells a student that we are all proud of their efforts.
