Why should we, after all, be optimistic about pinballs?
While the pc-pinball business is moribund (for the reasons I just explained) there exists a domain where pinballs are flourishing: the iPhone and the iPad. With 300000+ apps for these superb miniature computers it was expected that some pinballs would also be available. I had not the intention to extend the Mac Pinball history to the iPhone and the iPad but two things made me reconsider. First, Apple became the largest high-tech company in the world. Its products get scrutinised, criticised and implicitly advertised everyday and can no more be ignored. Second, I have an iPhone and an iPad: they are fabulous machines. If you do not have either (and can afford it) go and buy one. Saying that they will change your attitude towards computers is an understatement.
