if you doing a titration with an acid and a base then the end point is the in which each the Ph reduces to Ph 7 which is the moment water is formed with the indicator decolorising. if you reached the end point and tried to add more acid or base, whatever the case, then the Ph of the solution would turn acidic or basic, the role of the indicator is just to let u identify this. Well the colour is just unexplainable for me, as there are too many types of indicators. They all dont turn the same colour with acids or bases, therefore the universal indicator was invented.
