Why should sponsors disassociate themselves from Tiger Woods?
Firstly, Tiger made himself and his image into a marketable entity. He marketed himself as a clean and wholesome family man. That is what his sponsors were expecting when they purchased his persona for their companies. Secondly, Tiger didn’t simply make a little mental mistake and sleep with some woman. As the news keeps coming out it is becoming apparent that he was some kind of sick sex fiend. Just watch, I’m sure the worst is yet to come. Thirdly, America doesn’t like a rich and successful black man. They were waiting for something like this. They pounced on this story like a cat. The media are having a frenzied orgy over this story. If this happened to a white celebrity, the news may not have gotten out or there would not have been such a big deal made of it. Tiger is playing a sport that rich white men for the longest time didn’t allow minorities on the course unless they were a groundskeeper or serving drinks at the bar. Tiger changed all that and they will never forget it. I hop
