We believe that your source code is your property and you must protect it before giving to others. This way, unauthorized users cannot make changes to your code. Also if you want to give your customers a script for testing purpose, they should be able to test it and not make any changes to it. And also for protecting your source code from others so that they cannot find security holes in your code.
