Why should I use a Parelli halter and lead rope?
Parelli put a lot of thought into the safety, feel, weight & balance of all his equipment. If you use a traditional web halter the horse can push into and put pressure on it all day without any discomfort. A traditional web halter is also much heavier than a rope halter. Parelli’s rope halters are soft and light so when the horse is acting like a partner, or is at rest, then they recieve a kind of reward because it is comfortable to wear. But, when a horse is not acting like a partner and is pushing into the halter or pulling back then it is uncomfortable for the horse because it’s thin and puts the pressure back onto the horse. This causes the right thing to be comfortable and the wrong thing to be uncomfortable for the horse, which makes our part as the human much easier.
