Parelli put a lot of thought into the safety, feel, weight & balance of all his equipment. If you use a traditional web halter the horse can push into and put pressure on it all day without any discomfort. A traditional web halter is also much heavier than a rope halter. Parelli’s rope halters are soft and light so when the horse is acting like a partner, or is at rest, then they recieve a kind of reward because it is comfortable to wear. But, when a horse is not acting like a partner and is pushing into the halter or pulling back then it is uncomfortable for the horse because it’s thin and puts the pressure back onto the horse.
