Shotcreting your silo is the most important maintenance on your silo that you can have done .it will protect the interior of your silo from the harmful acids in silage juice.One of the biggest mistakes people make is waiting to long to Shotcrete their silo.Once the silo blocks have been eaten by the acids to much the block is thinned to far and is either passed repair or you end up replacing the bottom blocks.Which is far more expensive than Shotcreting your silo. One thing to keep in mind you need a good drain system.If your drain system doesn’t work and most don’t you should get it fixed .Otherwise the acid juice will continue to pool at the bottom of the silo and eat the staves.The best drain system would be title drain pipe covering the inside edge around the entire circle covered with crusher run stone on top of the tile drain pipe.Then it would act like a leech field and drain through the stone to the pipe.A good time to have this done is when you have your silo shotcreted.
