A. There are many places that offer vision correction procedures. There are commercial companies that are intended to make profit for their stockholders. These providers often use traveling surgeons and the least expensive equipment possible to reduce costs. A number have gone abruptly out of business over the past few years leaving many patients without completion of their procedures. There are surgeons who do only a few cases per month which makes it difficult to assess their results and also difficult for the surgeon to keep current with this rapidly changing field. Gundersen Lutheran strives to have the best technology available for our patients. We ask all of our patients to meet their surgeon before the procedure. Our surgeons are salaried and have no financial incentive to do the procedures. We monitor our results and publicly report these results to our patients on the Gundersen Lutheran quality web site so our results can be compared to other programs.
