Why should I buy a Freedom Food labelled turkey?
It’s simple. Freedom Food labelled turkeys are reared according to the RSPCA’s higher welfare standards, which cover the birds at each stage of their lives and go beyond baseline industry requirements in many key welfare areas. All our products are fully traceable from farm to fork, and all Freedom Food approved turkey farms are subject to rigorous annual assessments by Freedom Food assessors, and monitoring visits by the RSPCA, to ensure that the welfare standards are being met. Turkeys are large birds, and it’s important that they have plenty of space to move around and express natural behaviour. The RSPCA welfare standards insist that the stocking density must not exceed 25kg per square metre.
