Why should I, an American, care about the violence thousands of miles away in the Middle East?
Americans should care for three primary reasons: * Moral Responsibility: Americans tend to have a general concern for human suffering, especially with the religious significance of the area to Christianity, Islam and Judaism. * Political Movement: The United States sends billions of our tax dollars every year in the form of aid to Israel, a country declared by the United Nations as an occupying power currently lead by a war criminal. * Equality: In order for the U.S. to be a credible peace broker and intermediary, the government should put pressure on Israel to end the occupation of Palestinian territories, the root cause of violence in the Middle East.
