Why should creationism not be taught in schools?
Creationism has no scientific basis at all so can’t be taught as a science subject whereas evolution is totally science based. You can of course and in fact probably do teach creationism or what little there is of it in a religious class. In fact I also think religion should be kept out of schools.
In a theological sense, I believe creationism should be taught in schools, but separate from a scientific possibility. I believe this is necessary to have a better understanding of varying belief systems/cultures; this will include the beliefs of more than just Christian perspectives. There have been varying versions of how the world was formed, far prior to the Genesis. All of these are equal in validity, compared to the actual truth.
Religion has no place in a SCIENCE classroom. Evolution is factual, and is a component of biology. Creationism is a myth and has nothing to back it up and no worth whatsoever. Schools are for learning FACTS about the world. Creationism is a fairytale, so it has no place there, except perhaps in a class about comparative religions.
Rational thought is what school is about. Creationism is an alternative for people who are too unintelligent or ignorant to comprehend the fact that Christianity is a myth. Right to celebrate ones religion is not contested. If you want to believe creationism go ahead. But science classes are about facts, and evolution has a lot more behind it than creationism. As it is, it is still referred to as a theory.
Many believe the creative design theory should be taught in schools. A Catholic belief is that parents are the proper educators of their children, but delegation can be beneficial for a number of subjects. This is very important in regards to sex education especially if and when educators are not being accountable, or answering to the parents for what is being taught. There are many social engineers who want to teach ideas not acceptable to many parents. It is quite a challenge for parents to deal with problems caused by this. Many opt to home school so that bureaucrats cannot control children away from the parents. A family was in the news recently because the state did not want to allow them to home school. To answer your second question, I suppose it is about power and money. By wresting control of the education of the next generation, social engineers can silently create a generation of atheists, or anti church folks. For example, Planned Parenthood wants to promote sex to children
