Why should children do chores?
My partner is Swedish and has some very liberal ideas about child-rearing that would raise the hackles of many non Scandinavian parents. But she argues that chores teach kids the value of co-operation and the idea that the good of the group depends on the individual doing good. That is a very simplified explanation but it seems to work in practical and moral terms.
