I don’t use my local library and I don’t regularly access emergency services but it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t pay for them. Your taxes are used to pay for every conceivable service in this country – you don’t pick and choose and irrespective of whether you have kids or not, your taxes are not paid exclusively to the causes or services of your choosing. I don’t want to have my hard earned money used to fund wars, breast implants for insecure teens and ambulances being used as glorified taxi services at the weekend by losers who can’t handle their liquor but if everyone decided what money went where, the country would collapse under the weight of individualistic naivete and/or selfishness.
