Why should animal testing continue?
Animal testing is vital for the study of human diseases and disorders. Some estimates have claimed that, without animal testing, humans would live 23 years less on average. That’s a huge amount of time to watch your grandkids grow up and enjoy your retirement with your spouse. Imagine how many people are diagnosed with cancer, AIDS, and alzheimer’s each year, or even each day. Now imagine that we could cure each of those people. I’m sure you probably personally know at least one person who has been diagnosed with one of these afflictions. Supporting animal testing is not supporting cruelty, it’s supporting the people that need a cure. Of course, medical testing is not always this terrible inhumane practice it’s frequently made out to be. In fact, it usually isn’t. *Very* strict laws are in place designed to minimize stress and pain to research animals wherever possible.
