Why should America take the lead in the Green Revolution?
This is going to be the next great global industry, and I think that if in the United States our generation wants to pass on to our kids the same standard of living we had, that it can only be on the basis of a rising new industry. Green tech is going to be the next great global industry. There’s going to be nothing bigger. What are some ways to engage young people in this endeavor? When I go onto college campuses or to high schools, I can’t think of a single issue that more engages young people today than the issues of energy, environment, and climate change. They want to be a part of it. They’re desperately looking for ways to get involved. And the more that the federal government uses its regulatory power, its standard-setting power, and its price-setting power to launch a green revolution and green tech companies, the more opportunities young people are going to have to invent products, go to work in these companies, intern at these companies.
