Why should all posterior teeth be treated with NiTi files only?
The success of a Root Canal Therapy depends on several factors at various stages of the therapy; biomechanical preparation of the canals and their debridement being among the primary stages; and one of the uppermost in hierarchy of importance. At this stage, if an operator can get any assistance at all from his “tools”, it would be never too much. Ni-Ti files offer just that kind of assistance. The sheer ingenuity of the file lies primarily in the introduction of the material – Nickel and Titanium alloy. This material, when created in ductile form, i.e. in wire shapes, retains its memory. This means that a wire of this material can be bent into any shape, but will not retain that shape when released. Thus, a file made out of this material need not be bent prior to it’s introduction into a curved canal. The file will efforlessly bend to negotiate the curves in even tortuous canals and will spring back to its straight, original form when removed. Imagine! No need to keep separate curved
