Why send an album to get reviewed?
Because dummy, it’s the industry standard! If you have a record label, make them do it, and if you’re going to put out an album, you better set aside copies to send for free to magazines and online publications to get reviewed. We don’t get anything out of reviewing your music except the pleasure to hear your music. Currently it costs $1.81 to ,mail a cd (about 4oz). Enveloped can be bought at Walmart, Target, or anywhere other than the expensive post office, for .25-.50 cents. Bubble mailers are good, but you can also send cds in cheap brown envelopes which i’ve seen for .15 cents. Your cd shouldn’t cost you more than $1.50 or you are getting ripped off o have 1,000 page booklets. Add in a copy of your one-sheet .08 cents and the total costs about $3.55 to send just a cd. It may seem like alot of money, so don’t send your cd to just anyone. Do your research. Email magazines, give them your myspace link and ask if they would like to review your music.
