Why select Biomedical Informatics at Stanford instead of medical or bioinformatics elsewhere?
1. Stanford is one of the few universities that include Informatics, Engineering/Computer Science, Biology/Chemistry, and a Medical School all on the same campus. In addition, Stanford promotes synergy between the various departments with special resources such as the interdisciplinary Clark Center. The Clark Center has faculty from multiple departments working together in a modern centrally-located facility. The Clark Center supports interaction and collaboration physically: many labs have portable workbenches and furniture. Labs may be reconfigured as project needs change. 2. Stanford’s Informatics Program was established in 1982. We have a long established track record with over 150 successful graduates that are well respected in the field. Stanford is known for its cogent informatics curricular design which leads to rigorous training in five core areas (see the curriculum page in this section of the website). Students learn about both biological and clinical application of informat
