Oral cancer originates in the area of the mouth, and is characterized by the appearance of squamous cell carcinomas, also know as malignant cells. The American Dental Association estimates that as many as 35,000 people are diagnosed with oral cancer every year, and it is estimated that upwards of 25% die.
