WHY RESTORE GREEN HERON BOG?

0

&nbsp Green Heron Pond with its adjacent marsh and bog represents three naturally occurring ecosystems in Minnesota and is part of the state’s geologic and landscape heritage. There is value in maintaining them as such. First, and perhaps most important, this large marsh complex gives concrete, experiential examples of these plant communities. Second, this native wetland has aesthetic value that enhances the Arboretum. Third, maintaining a native wetland in good condition provides a benchmark from which to assess the integrity of other wetlands, and a gauge for changes from increasing land use impacts to other aquatic systems.
