Why Resistant Materials GCSE?
This course will allow students to develop good practical skills through the use of hand and machine tools using the specialist facilities available. Students will be encouraged to use drawing, ICT and modelling to develop and communicate ideas. What will I do? Students will have the opportunity to develop products in timbers, metals and plastics, smart and nanomaterials. During Year 10 there will be a series of short projects designed to develop students’ understanding and knowledge in working with resistant materials, as well as focused lessons on communicating ideas using drawing and ICT. How will I be assessed? Assessment is by: Individual project (60%) – under controlled assessment conditions. Examination (40%) Untiered – 2 hours.
