Why require Workers Compensation Insurance?

Workers compensation pays for on-the-job injuries to an entity’s employees. Any entity operating in Nevada that has employees is required by law to carry workers compensation insurance. It is NSHE’s responsibility under Nevada law to pay the workers compensation claim of an entity’s employee if NSHE contracts with an entity that does not have workers compensation insurance. NSHE must not do business with any entity that has employees and does not carry workers compensation insurance. ADDITIONAL INSURED ON A WORKERS COMPENSATION POLICY – NSHE can not be named an additional insured on anyone else’s workers compensation policy. To make the NSHE an additional insured on another entity’s workers compensation policy would make them responsible for all the NSHE’s employees. No insurance company would agree to this.
