Why Replace the Viaduct When Freeways Fall Over?
Last month there were some reactionary-crats out there who claimed that the Viaduct advisory vote was a meaningless waste of money. Well it turns out that they were as wrong as a brown belt with black shoes after Labor Day. The vote killed the tunnel and literally threw a monkey wrench into any re-build plans. A final decision on a Viaduct replacement should come during next year’s legislative session. However, why should we do anything? The main reason to replace the viaduct is because it’s old, damaged, and could fall over at any second. This weekend we were reminded that even the most structurally sound of freeways can come crashing to the ground with the simplest of automobile roll-overs. How silly would we fell to spend billions on some sort of replacement, only to see it destroyed within hours because Johnny Truck Driver and his cargo of highly explosive liquids takes a corner too fast.
