Why regulate buildings for energy efficiency?
While the building sector is not the largest contributor to GHG emissions, it is one of the fastest growing sources of GHG emissions. Energy used in buildings accounts for almost 27% of all energy related greenhouse gas emissions. By 2010, emissions from buildings due to energy consumption are estimated to increase by 48% above 1990 levels.
