INTRODUCTION In the mid nineties a number of sociologists and economic geographers wrote on the subject of reflexive modernization and the reflexive processes that shape the late modern world and the built environment. The notion of reflexive modernization has been receiving some attention in the last few years. In this essay I will look at a specific aspect of this concept: The way in which it influences our cities. I will argue that it is important to take into account a number of reflexive urban processes when developing and regenerating 21st century cities.
